‘In the Space of a Song’
Song writing days; creating space for teams to reflect, connect and grow.
Would your team benefit from being guided through a day of reflection and connection through song writing?
A song is a perfect container, where many thoughts and feelings can exist together and combine to create something unique. Many voices can join together, difficult emotions can be shaped into something new and beautiful, humour can leap out from dark places, and joy can be released. A core aim of the day is to shift from a familiar cognitive place where anxiety thrives to a more feeling, imaginative and fun place that can bring calm and clarity.
The day is led by singer song writer and music therapist, Emily Druce, who approaches group song writing as an act of being truly present, and connecting creatively in the moment. It is an opportunity for open reflection or pondering specific questions, for deep listening and for feeling heard. The creative process allows for the unexpected to arrive and surprise!
The day will culminate in the bonding and uplifting experience of singing your own song as a group.
No experience or confidence around music or song writing is necessary and all activities are approached with gentleness, offering creative ways to feel deeply safe in the moment. The most common feedback from these sessions is ‘I can’t believe we just did that!’

Clinical Supervision and Reflective Practice for Leaders
Anna Townend is a director of Singing Hearts Collective and a registered Dance/movement psychotherapist. In 2021, she trained as a Clinical Supervisor and has worked extensively in this role with creative arts therapists, therapist trainees and third sector leaders.
“I am a navigator of stormy weathers. I come alongside you and sense deeply, like
tuning into a radar frequency.
I use this information to help you locate yourself in mythic and geological time; root
into your story and where you may be headed. I sense the wide contours of the path
you are on.
I’m offering you a different kind of sight.
Like a being underwater, I am comfortable listening at depth, in the dark of soil. I
sense the felt sense before anything else; it is a way of knowing that rises up as
sensation, feeling, lifeforce.
It is the dancer in me.”
If you would like to work with Anna or find out more, please get in touch.

‘See in this Dark’
We have experience of creating emotionally safe events and supporting other organisations to do the same. As artists we recognise that the role of art in society is to challenge, touch edges and arouse deep responses. We can offer training and advice on working in a trauma informed way to support our communities to safely access creativity that tests new waters.
